The numbers are out and thanks to tvbythenumbers.com, a ratings website, it turns out that redhead host Conan O’Brien still managed to outnumber rival and the reason for him leaving NBC, Jay Leno, in terms of viewership when their versions of the “Tonight Show”, which both aired at NBC, at the same time slot but in different years where compared vis-à-vis. O’Brien’s the ”Tonight Show” which aired in 2009 rated even higher – a 1.0 to 1.1 for the 18-49 demographic – than when Leno took the timeslot back to spearhead the same show in May. And this was during O’Brien’s premiere phase for a time slot that he has never handled before compared to Leno’s re-premiere in May. Leno has been holding down the same spot for almost 20 years before he moved up to primetime. Still, viewership for the veteran has dwindled.

Conan O’Brien will now be able to add that he has appeared on broadcast television’s oldest skewering television program onto his career plan that is working out so perfectly. On Tuesday, CBS news announced that the network had secured an interview with the ex late night host from NBC. It will air on Sunday on the network’s venerable news magazine, “60 Minutes.”

Rumors that Conan O’Brien will hit the road are true. The former talk show host and comedian has announced an extensive tour of theaters that will be kicking off next month. “The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour” will premiere in Eugene, OR on April 12, with the trek moving from West to East Coast. The event will be stopping in 28 cities in North America before concluding in Atlanta on June 14.

A weekend version would also air on Fox. On Thursday, NBC announced they have reached a deal worth $45 million with Conan O’Brien regarding his “Tonight Show” departure. The agreement will allow the return of Jay Leno to the late night show. Leno hosted the show for 17 years previously. NBC said O’Brien in the deal will be getting over $33 million. The remainder will be going to his staff of 200 for severance pay. O’Brien took over for Leno seven months ago.

During O’Brien’s opening monologue the comedian joked that he had had lots of fun over the last seven months being there, but like everything else in life all of the fun had to end a decade early.
